Originally Keitaro's rival for Narusegawa, he eventually loses all of his money in his pursuit of her.
He remained fairly tenacious for a time, but eventually gave up after getting deep into debt with the Hinata House.
Haruka let him try to work off his debts at a very low rate of pay; from that point on, Kentaro became an occasional background character and plot device.
Kentaro appears only in the Love Hina anime, not the manga. He also tends to make jokes at the stereotype of the anime's genre.

"
Hi, I'm Keitaro. Welcome to Kentaro's corner of the web.
Don't forget the 'N' because it stands for Noble. My 'I' stands for insane, imbecile,
or ignorant. He's more manly than me! And I'm dumb. He's the man! Kentaro! " |

how charming
I did it! I finally finished my first piece! My first painting! I had it framed and covered and I immediately rushed to show everyone. But I should've seen it coming, haha. Of course, since it's my first work, what's so impressive about it? Haruka-san wasn't impressed. I went to Hinata inn and asked their opinion about it.
"Uhh... I don't get it." says Kitsune.
"That's a painting? Oh... that's a painting!" remarked Motoko-san.
"It looks... fun." commented Shinobu-chan.
"It's flammable, right?" smiled Kaolla-kun.
"Good for you." sighed Naru-chan.
"Not now, Kentaro." Keitaro was looking pretty upset. What's upsetting about my painting?
"I think the canvas is more expensive than the painting itself." laughed Sara-chan.
Uggh... I was... you guys suck!
Battered and bruised. I went to Mutsumi-chan to get this over with. I might as well confirm everybody's reaction to my painting and dump this thing.
"Konnichiwa, Kentaro-kun."
"Konnichiwa, Mutsu-chan." Sigh. Here goes nothing. "Ano, Mutsu-chan. What do you think of my first painting? You can be honest with me."
"Okay, I will. It looks..." say it. Say it! "Really nice. It does." she grabbed the painting from me. And viewed all of it before her. "It gives off this warm and fuzzy feeling of home." Mutsumi-chan looked at me. "I'm not lying."
I guess every painter, every writer, every musician, every craftsman, everyone in the world would agree with me, that if there's at least one person who appreciates your work, then every ounce of sweat, tears and stress is worth it; the trouble is worthwhile.
